Abilio Afonso Baeta Neves is a social scientist graduated from UFRGS with a doctorate in Political Science at Westfälische Wilhelms Universität - Münster, Germany. He was the coordinator of the Postgraduate Course in Political Anthropology and Sociology - UFRGS, President and Scientific Director of FAPERGS, President of the Brazil Germany Cultural Institute (ICBA) - Porto Alegre, Dean of Research and Graduate Studies at UFRGS, President of the National Forum for Pro-Rectors of Research and Graduate Studies. He was regional and national secretary of the Brazilian Society for the Progress of Science SBPC.
Abilio Neves served as the President of CAPES in two terms and was Secretary of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education.
He coordinated the Brazil-Germany Civil Dialogue. He currently holds the Paschoal Senise Chair at USP's Postgraduate Dean's Office and serves as an advisor at PUCRS and Uni Nilton Lins, Manaus.
