PARADIPLOMACY
BUILDING NEW BRIDGES
The Institute of Direct Diplomacy was created with the objective of strengthening diplomatic ties between subnational entities.
ABOUT IDD
IDD - Institute of Direct Diplomacy, is a "think and do tank" dedicated to the international dialogue and cooperation of Brazilian subnational entities, companies, academic institutions and non-governmental organizations. In its purpose, IDD uses direct diplomacy as a natural phenomenon driven by the revolution in the media.
The IDD, in its paradiplomatic action, is guided by the "triple helix" cooperation model, in which the academy and the local public and private sectors articulate to identify, research and develop solutions to socio-environmental challenges based on innovative foreign experiences .
Its operational model also adds a "fourth helix", organized civil society, and is guided, unconditionally, by the objectives of sustainable development established by the United Nations Agenda 2030.
PARADIPLOMACY AND STATE DIPLOMACY
While the ability to conduct diplomatic relations is seen as an exclusive attribute of sovereign states, the participation of local and regional governments in international relations is becoming increasingly important worldwide. As a result of the transnationalization of the world economy and the increase in interconnectivity, paradiplomacy is rapidly gaining institutional and legal recognition by states and international organizations in the most diverse geopolitical contexts. Its instrumental value lies in facilitating the representation of local interests on a global scale. It is, by its nature, an international action that does not conflict with the countries' central diplomacy, which has the exclusive prerogative of relations between sovereign states. On the contrary, paradiplomacy, or decentralized diplomacy, is rather a growing and powerful asset of national states as it adds qualitative and quantitative value to their international presence.

OUR SDG GUIDELINES
Our projects use as a reference the sustainability agenda defined by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) agenda.
.
Launched in September 2015 by the UN, during the Sustainable Development Summit, this agenda was discussed at the United Nations General Assembly where member states and civil society negotiated their contributions.

THE CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT FOR PARADIPLOMACY
